Biography in English

 

Eva Rydén, dramatic soprano, born in Malmö in Sweden, made an international opera debut summer 2000, starring as Helmwige in Die Walküre. She performed next to Plàcido Domingo at the Bayreuther Festspiele with Giuseppe Sinopoli as Conductor. She had also a contract as 3 Norn in Der Götterdämmerung.

Eva Rydén´s voice encompassess over three octaves. Her variety of repertoire -opera, lieder, oratorios, operettas and musical-theatre includes the Baroque through the Contemporary, but she feels most comfortable in Operas from Puccini, Verdi, Wagner and R.Strauss.

During her extensive European performances (Germany, Austria, Denmark, Sweden, Italy, Polen), Ms. Rydén has often pleased her audiences with opera, lieder and orchestral concerts.

In the spring of 1999 Eva Rydén represented Sweden at the Probaltica-Festival in Polen, including Gdansk Radio and Torun radio, with the Swedish oratorios by Lars Erik Larsson "Förklädd Gud"  ("Disguised God"), music she also has performed in Göteborg in Sweden, with the Polish-Swedish Conductor Andrzej Skibinski.

Ms. Rydén has also performed at the Swedish National Radio and Television.

Summer 1999, Eva Rydén worked for the company SkÃ¥nska Operan in Sweden, singing the lead role Mrs.Benneth in the new written opera "Pride and Prejudice". The young composer, Max Blomgren, wrote this part personally for Eva, and he conducted all the 29 performances.

Eva Rydén received her diploma with highest honors, "mit Auszeichnung" and the Magister Artium (Mag.art) at the University of Music and Dramatic Arts Mozarteum in Salzburg in 1997, where she was also the recipient of the prestigious Gianna Szel prize - "For the best and the most beautiful voice"-, further scholarships and awards followed, among them from Konstnärsnämnden, Fredrika Bremer and the Crafoord foundation. 

Her main vocal teachers among others are the operasinger Karin Mang-Habashi in Malmö,  Prof. Rudolf Knoll and Prof. Horiana Branisteanu at the Mozarteum.

Her opera roles during Mozarteum include; First Lady and Second Lady -      Die Zauberflöte, Agathe - Der Freischütz, Aida, Mercedez - Carmen,              Santuzza  - Cavalleria rusticana, Macelina and Contessa - Le nozze di  Figaro, Elisetta - Il Matrimonio Segreto, Mimi - La Bohème, Donna Anna  -   Don Giovanni, Marie - Die Verkaufte Brau, Marta - Lowland, Mutter - Hänzel und Gretel, Arminda  - La Finta Giardiniera.

Eva also sang Tosca  in a Concert with Christian Hornef as Conductor.

Eva Rydén has done a lot of Master Classes in Austria, Germany and Sweden for Prof. Rudolf Knoll, Madame Iris Adami Corradetti, Thomas Hampson, Barbra Ann Martin, HÃ¥kan HagegÃ¥rd, among others.

Eva Rydén received also under many years personal criticism and high praise, as well as advice and professional suggestions directly from Birgit Nilsson.

Ms. Rydén frequently performs lieder/songs and church concerts, singing classical oratorios in Sweden and abroad. As a concert singer her repertoire includes; Bach Magnificat, Bach Mätteus-Passion, Pergolesi Stabat Mater, Dvorak Stabat Mater, Rossini Stabat Mater, Brahms Requiem, Dvorak Requiem, Mozart Requiem, Fauré Requiem, Verdi Requiem, Mozart Krönungs-Messe, Mozart Exultate Jubilate, Mozart Mass in C-Minor, Vivaldi Gloria, Mendelsohn Paulos and Elijah, Beethoven Symphonie Nr. 9, Beethoven Mass in C, Haydn Die Schöpfung, Lars Erik Larsson Förklädd Gud, Wagner Wesendonklieder, Strauss Vier Letzte Lieder, Schönberg Gurrelieder , also seperate Songs from Mahler, Liszt, Wolf, Brahms, Strauss, Sibelius, Heisse, Grieg, Rangström and more.

During the years 2000-2005 Ms. Rydén was an active performer, choosing also alto parts although she is a soprano. Pergolesi Stabat Mater, Beethoven Mass in C  - are some of them.

Ms. Rydén sings often as a soloist with large choirs, for example the newly written "Ave Maria" by a Polish composer Andrzej Ferber which was first performed in Sweden and Denmark, and also can be heard in a published CD (2003).

Spring and summer 2001, Ms. Rydén was active as a producer as well as a soloist. She toured frequently performing  staged medleys from operas, operettas and  musical-theatre. She has received favorable reviews from the Swedish and Danish press. One of these Concerts was visited by Birgit Nilsson who praised the Concert very highly.

In the winter of 2003 Ms.Rydén sang the lead Role Princess Zade in a newly written Varité-opera by Gunhild Carling at the Citytheater in Lund (Sweden), a Turandot-type with similar story.

She was also the recipient of the "TSO -Torsten Tegstam award 2003".

2004 Ms. Rydén sang romance-concerts, Swedish music with Trelleborgs brass-orchestra, and staged opera concerts and many operetta concerts with music from My Fair Lady, Lustige Witwe, Giuditta, Clivia, Die Czardasfürstinn and more.

2005 Ms. Rydén sang a lot of concerts, among them a large Wagner-Concert in Malmö (Sweden) with great success, including arias from Tannhäuser, Wesendonklieder and Isoldes Liebestod.

She sang once more in Die Walküre in Denmark at Den Ny Opera, this time as Ortlinde, with Troels Kold as stagedirector.

2006 Ms. Rydén sang concerts and also participated in the Opera Competition "Spazio Musica" in Italy with arias from Tosca, Oberon, La Gioconda, Macbeth and Turandot.

During 2007 Ms. Rydén sang concerts from Baroque music, Cantate by Vincent Lübeck, to  "Opera-improvisation" which included percussion instruments and playing on glass with the famous group Conrytmo.
