ROBERT BREAULT

Tenor Robert Breault enjoys an international career that
encompasses opera, oratorio, recital, and concert work. His warm and
flexible tenor voice and dramatic acting skills account for his enthusiastic
reception and re-engagements wherever he performs. For the past 13 years,
Dr. Breault has served as Director of Opera and Professor of Voice at the
University of Utah. He also works with members of the Utah Opera Apprentice
Studio and numerous well-known singers such as Celena Shafer and Paula Delligatti.
Mr. Breault’s numerous concert appearances include performances with the
Cleveland Orchestra, San Francisco Symphony, Montreal Symphony, The National
Symphony, National Symphony of Taiwan, The Milwaukee Symphony, the Atlanta
Symphony, Florida Philharmonic, Florida Orchestra, Utah Symphony, the
Houston Masterworks Chorale, L' Orchestre Métropolitan du Grand Montréal,
the Hamilton Philharmonic and the Toronto Symphony and Mendelssohn Choir.
Mr. Breault's opera engagements include performances with New York City
Opera, Opera New Orleans, and multiple engagements with Atlanta Opera, Utah
Opera, and the Opera Orchestra of New York. He returned to Chautauqua for a
sixth consecutive season in 2004 in the title role of Verdi’s Stiffelio. Mr.
Breault has also appeared with Opera de Nice, Opera Pacific, Madison Opera,
Michigan Opera Theatre, Canada's Opera Atelier, Hamilton Opera, and has
toured with the San Francisco Opera Western Opera Theater.
Mr. Breault's recording credits include Laurent Petitgirard's World Premier
recording of Joseph Merrick dit Elephant Man with The Orchestre
Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo. A live performance at Opera de Nice is also
available on DVD on the Marco Polo label. Other recordings include Haydn's
Lord Nelson Mass with the Choeur St. Lawrence and Montreal Symphony, DeMars'
American Requiem with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, Berlioz Requiem with the
Jerusalem Symphony and Mormon Tabernacle Choir, and three volumes of
Pachelbel's Organ Works as the cantor with organist Marilyn Mason.
Robert received his Doctorate from the University of Michigan in 1991. His
