FRANCESCO GERMINI
conductor
He studied violin at Istituto Musicale "Achille Peri" of Reggio
Emilia and perfected himself in violin with M° Alessandro
Simoncini and with M° Alberto Bologni at Parma and Florence
Conservatory of Music. He also studied violin with M° Moshe
Murvitz, concertmaster of the Israel Philarmonic Orchestra. He
graduated at Avellino Conservatory of Music in 1991. He attended a
specialization course in conducting with M° Julius Kalmar,
teacher of Wienermeisterkursee, and perfected himself in conducting
with M° Gustav Kuhn at "Pomeriggi Musicali" in Milan, in 1995.
He composed music for exploration films, spots, signatures and
multimedia shows. He participated in several recordings for CGD and
Fonit Cetra as a soloist and an arranger. He worked on several radio
and television programmes for RAI UNO and for San Marino RTV as a
musical consultant. He orchestrated the opera "Matilde" by Giovanni
Bertolani in collaboration with the sound engineer Mirco Dalporto.
This opera was performed for the first time in Quattro Castella
(Reggio Emilia) in 1994 and for the second time in Fort Worth (TEXAS)
in 1995. On that occasion M° Germini conducted the "Youth
Orchestra of Greater Fort Worth". He worked as a musical assistant on
the first two editions of the International Festival of Castelli
Matildici .In 1998 he studied conducting at Tanglewood Music Center
(USA) with M° Sejii Ozawa, M° Robert Spano, M° Jorma
Panula and M° Andre Previn. He also attended a sound track
seminar with the famous American composer John Williams. In
March-April 1999 he composed the musical excerpt for ballet "Comoedia
II-The Snake", which was staged by Aterballetto Company and performed
by Emilia Romagna Symphony Orchestra "Arturo Toscanini", conducted by
M° Marcello Rota .
He conducted the Youth Orchestra of Greater Fort Worth (TEXAS) on
the occasion of the 150° Anniversary of the foundation of the
town of Fort Worth In July 1999, in Ireland, he attended the
prestigious international course for young conductors held by M°
Gerhard Markson, principal conductor of the National Symphony
Orchestra of Ireland. He composed the musical excerpt entitled "KI KI
SO SO LLA GYE LO" (The gods will win) , Symphony for Tibet dedicated
to His Holiness the XIV Dalai Lama and to the non-violent struggle of
Tibetan people. "KI KI SO SO LA GYE LO" was performed, for the first
time, on the occasion of the XIV Dalai Lama's recent journey to Italy
(25th October,1999)..
Since January 2000, for a period of six months, he has been
holding an important office as a guest conductor of the Youth
Orchestra of Greater Fort Worth. In February and March 2000, he
conducted the Youth Orchestra of Greater Fort Worth in several, one
of these with the famous pianist John Owings, professor of music of
TCU (Fort Worth) . In Spring 2000, he played the violin as a co
principal in Dallas World Symphony Orchestra, conducted by M°
Marcello Rota, during the American tour of the Italian tenor Andrea
Bocelli. "Sakura Sakura"A tribute to Fosco Maraini is his last
composition.
